Video footage captured a chase between a motorcyclist and Arkansas State Police that ended when a trooper deployed a Taser and the man's backpack filled with gasoline burst into flames.
A speeding motorcyclist's backpack filled with gasoline burst into flames after an Arkansas State Police trooper deployed a Taser following a chase earlier this month.
The incident happened at around 1:15 a.m. Oct. 13 when a trooper tried to pull over a motorcyclist without a license plate in Little Rock, KHBS-TV reports. The motorcyclist refused to stop and sped away, weaving through traffic and blowing through stop lights.
The man eventually abandoned his motorcycle and began fleeing on foot. During the foot chase, a trooper fired a Taser in an effort to subdue the suspect.
That's when the motorcyclist's backpack—which troopers didn't know was filled with gasoline—burst into flames. Troopers quickly put out the flames and treated the man until medics reached the scene.
The man was taken to the hospital, and his injuries weren't considered life-threatening. It's unclear why he was carrying gasoline in his backpack, and he faces multiple charges from the incident.
